UNDP Kicks off Mateen Regional Workshops with Jordan’s CBOs to Promote Social Cohesion

October 1, 2018

The first session was held in September at Wadi Mousa

AMMAN, October 3rd 2018: UNDP with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Government of Japan, held today the second of three 'Mateen' regional workshops in Zarqa, where the first was held last week in Wadi Mousa targeting Community Based Organizations CBOs.

The 'Mateen Platform' has been formed from a network of organised, effective grassroots groups with proven capacity to engage in areas of enhancing social cohesion, strengthening the role of civil society, and building opportunities for multi- stakeholder dialogue and discussion.

One more session will be organized in Irbid on October 10 and 11th for all CBOs that were part of the UNDP's Community Cohesion Grants Mechanism (CCGM). Workshops address lessons learned, obstacles and challenges that were faced by the CBOs in the planning and implementation process from the local community perspective.

The targeted CBOs were given facilitations and dialogue managements skills to develop their professional capacities and promote social cohesion through dialogue and discussion.
