Regional Resilience and Private Sector Innovation Workshop for Improved Crisis Response

In partnership with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and taking advantage of the accompanying delegation of Finnish businesses, UNDP is organizing a half day Regional Resilience and Private Sector Innovation Workshop for Improved Crisis Response. Fourteen companies from Finland will be attending the workshop to engage with  Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP) stakeholders  on how to utilize technology and new innovative approaches to address challenges to building resilience in the region.  

With the participation of businesses, entrepreneurs, NGOs and UN Agencies that are committed to developing innovative means to expanding resilience, the workshop aims to develop partnerships between UN, NGO, and private sector stakeholders to enable new and innovative approaches to expanding resilience and engagement with the private sector.

The workshop will consist of three sessions. The first session will consist of a partnership matchmaking session where participants will engage in a networking exercise of 5-minute bilateral conversations with Finnish private sector stakeholders. In the second session, participants will participate in one of three round tables with representatives from Finnish companies around the themes of: smart solutions for education and health, energy and the environment, and housing and living conditions.  The closing session will include keynote addresses from H.E. Anne-Mari Virolainen, Minister for International Trade and Development of Finland and Ms. Sarah Poole, Deputy Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States.

The workshop will take place on 8 May 2018 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Amman, Jordan from 1:30 until 4:45 PM.
