Members of the Finnish Parliament Visit JordanJan 19, 2017
Members of the Finnish Parliament (MPs) on an official visit to Jordan visited some of the Finland supported projects and activities in the field, under the UNDP programme on “Mitigating the Impact of the Syria Crisis in Jordanian Host Communities” which is implemented by UNDP since 2013.
The delegation started their day by meeting the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and were briefed by the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator on the role of the United Nations agencies in Jordan, and the support they provide to the Resilience and Humanitarian initiatives and the partnership they have with the government, private sector and NGOs to address the development challenges of Jordan. The Resident Coordinator expressed the thanks and gratitude of the UN country team in Jordan for the support Finland is providing to Jordan through the UN system, and for hosting the upcoming Helsinki conference to launch of the next 2017 Syria Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) and the 2017-18 Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP).
The MPs got the chance to meet with Sabha and Dafyaneh’s Mayor, to discuss the Livelihood & Emergency Employment programme (3X6 approach), and concluded their visit by visiting the installed LED street lights and PVE solar systems at the Sabha and Dafyaneh’s municipality, and the children park; which were installed and supported by the Government of Finland.
