Workshop on "Development of Selection Criteria and Designation Process of Rangeland Reserves in Jordan"

Nov 13, 2016

Part of the Consultation

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture held a consultative national workshop entitled "Development of Selection Criteria and Designation Process of Rangeland Reserves in Jordan"

The workshop aimed to discuss and to assess the institutional and regulatory framework of the existing system of rangeland reserves in Jordan. The workshop also aimed to propose appropriate mechanisms for the development of an effective management system which will contribute in linking the natural grazing system with the sustainable development goals. It will also link it with the role of all stakeholders in the actual management programs of the rangeland reserves system in Jordan.

It is expected that the outcomes of this workshop will help in developing agreed national criteria to choose a national network rangeland reserves within clear management objectives. This workshop will also help in developing of a designation system for rangeland reserves and their management.

This workshop comes as part of the "Mainstreaming Rio Convention Provisions into National Sectoral Policies” project which is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and UNDP.
